The 2026 UPMASA Grand Convention in San Francisco was more than a gathering of Filipino medical professionals—it was a celebration of friendship, service, shared heritage, and the enduring bonds that unite us. Members came together from across the globe to reconnect with old friends, welcome new colleagues, celebrate professional milestones, and share in the spirit of service that defines our organization. Our members continue to make meaningful contributions through their medical careers, leadership, mentorship, philanthropy, and community service.

Beyond the professional achievements, the convention beautifully showcased the sisterhood and brotherhood of Mu Sigma Phi. Laughter, shared memories, new friendships, and cherished reunions reminded us that MSPF is more than a professional organization—it is a family united by friendship, shared values, and a commitment to giving back.

Together, we celebrate who we are, what we have accomplished, and the many ways we continue to serve. All for the glory!

Celebrating Our Members

We honor our members, many of whom, served on the Board of Governors and AGC committee.

Leadership roles held by our own Mike Tee (UP Chancellor) and Mitos Cating-Cabral (UPMAS President):

The convention offered a special opportunity to recognize the remarkable individuals who make MSPF what it is. Our members continue to distinguish themselves through their dedication to medicine, leadership, education, mentorship, community service, and philanthropy. We salute our UPMASA and Presidential Awardees!

Many have taken on leadership roles within their hospitals, medical organizations, communities, and professional societies. Others quietly make a difference every day through volunteer work, medical missions, charitable initiatives, mentoring of younger physicians, and support of fellow Filipino healthcare professionals.

Honoring Accomplishments and Milestones

The convention was also a fitting occasion to celebrate the professional and personal milestones of our members. From career achievements and leadership appointments to academic accomplishments, community recognition, and years of dedicated service, these milestones are a source of pride for the entire MSPF family.

Most importantly, however, the convention reminded us that behind every accomplishment is a person who has worked hard, served others, and often benefited from the encouragement and support of colleagues and friends.

A Tradition of Giving Back

MSPF’s presence at the UPMASA Grand Convention also highlighted the organization’s continuing commitment to philanthropy and service. Through the generosity of its members, MSPF supports initiatives that advance healthcare, education, and opportunities for future generations. The contributions of our members extend well beyond financial support. Time, expertise, mentorship, leadership, and personal involvement are equally valuable forms of service. Each contribution, large or small, becomes part of a collective effort to make a meaningful and lasting impact. These accomplishments reflect the values that MSPF members strive to uphold: excellence in our profession, compassion for others, commitment to service, and a willingness to give back.

Sisterhood and Brotherhood

Perhaps the most memorable part of the convention was simply being together.

Across generations, MSPF members shared laughter, memories, stories of medical school days, family updates, photographs, and new experiences. Old friendships were renewed, while new friendships were formed. The distinctions of specialty, geography, career stage, and generation seemed to fade as everyone came together as members of one community.

This sense of belonging is one of MSPF’s greatest strengths. We celebrate one another’s successes, support one another during difficult times, and come together to serve a cause greater than ourselves.

Looking Forward

The 2026 UPMASA Grand Convention reminded us that MSPF is more than an organization. It is a community of physicians and medical professionals connected by shared roots, shared values, and a shared commitment to service.

As we look toward the future, may we continue to nurture the friendships that brought us together, encourage the next generation of leaders, recognize the contributions of our members, and expand our collective impact through service and philanthropy.

The AGC truly showcased the essence of the Mu Sigma Phi Foundation — formed by sisters and brothers who continue to inspire, serve, lead, and give back.

Together, we celebrate our past, cherish our fellowship, and build a stronger future for MSPF and the communities we serve.
